The IFA Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Adam Kutz, of the Storm Lake Fire Department, was elected as the new 5th Vice President of the Iowa Firefighters Association during our convention meeting earlier this September.

Please read email below and the attachment. We are being heard by OSHA but the fight is not over, OSHA is recognizing our concerns but nothing has been voted on. We still will go through the hearing on November 12th and we have Representatives scheduled to testify at this hearing.

The Iowa Firefighter Association (IFA) is a non-profit association that was organized in 1879.  It represents and advocates for the improvement of the Iowa Fire Service to improve protection of the public in our communities.  We do this through legislation, better training, minimum standards for apparatus and equipment, fire prevention, public relations, and information programs.

Don’t forget to join us at this year’s Convention Meeting on Sunday, September 8th! The meeting will be at the Iowa Falls Fire Station in Iowa Falls, IA.

Come help us Celebrate the Iowa Firefighter Associations 146th Convention hosted by the Iowa Falls Fire Department who will be proudly celebrating their Fire Departments 151st year serving Iowa Falls and surrounding communities.

We are saddened to share the news of the passing IFA Past President Arthur Kloos.

Arthur was a member of the Iowa City Fire Department for 30 years.

We are saddened to share the news of the passing IFA Past President Paul Schellhase.

Paul was a member of the Garrison Fire Department for 58 years serving from 1963-2021,

Mark your calendars now – the dates for the 2024 fair will be August 8th- 18th. We need volunteers to staff the booth in 4 hour shifts each day.

Shifts are 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

We are lucky enough to have two exceptional candidates for the 2024 5th Vice President.

IFA Night at the Arena. Tickets are normally $30 but to IFA members will be $20 with $5 from each ticket sold donated to the Memorial expansion fund.
