Passing of IFA Past President Arthur Kloos

We are saddened to share the news of the passing IFA Past President Arthur Kloos.

Arthur C. Kloos, 89, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, July 16, 2024, in Sun City, Arizona, where he resided for 20 years. A visitation will be held from 3 to 6 pm, Sunday, July 28, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 29, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Interment with military honors will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Art is survived by his wife of 34 years, Karen; daughters, Becky, Gina and Kathy; stepchildren, Kevin and Kim; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; former wife, Janet; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Essie Kloos; nine siblings; son, Tom; daughter, Kelli; and grandson, Christopher. 

Art retired from the Iowa City Fire Department after 30 years of service. He was a volunteer firefighter and served two years as Mayor in Shellsburg.  

Memorials may be made to the Iowa Fireman’s Association.
